Ultra Violette Sheen Screen SPF 50 Hydrating Lip Balm Review

As we should all know by now SPF is one of – if not the – most important skin care step if you want to protect your skin and slow the signs of aging, hence why I bought this Ultra Violette Lip Balm.

Beyond that I, personally, need to wear sunscreen everyday as I have very fair skin that is prone to developing cancerous spots. I learnt this from watching my family struggle with skin cancers after spending their youth getting sun burnt.

I’d like to hope by now that everyone is aware of how important it is so be wearing sunscreen everyday, even if you’re barely going outside.

Lips are one part of my face that I often forget I’m not protecting from the sun. I’ve tried other SPF lipbalms before however they had awful formulas with ghostly whitecast that caused my lips to look grey and sickly.

So I’d not had great experience with SPF lipbalms before however when I found that Ultra Violette had their own version I was more confident in trying it.

Ultra Violette is an Australian brand who’ve made a name for themselves for making high quality natural sunscreens that wear well under makeup.

I purchased their Sheen Screen Lip Balm in the shade Shimmer as I didn’t want a tinted colour.

This formula comes in four different shades: Nude, Peach, Rose and Shimmer. Each balm is 15g costing AUD$25.00, packing in a standard squeeze tube with an angled applicator.

The formula is quite thick for a balm. I don’t need a lot to coat my lips and it will last for a good amount of time (2-3 hours) before I want to reapply it.

There is a very faint, sweet scent and flavour however the scent dissapears once the balm is applied. I will notice the flavour a bit however it’s very mild so it doesn’t bother me.

I have the shade Shimmer and I don’t feel the shimmer particles in the formula. There is no graininess on my lips, they are soft and smooth from the balm.

I have been wearing this Sheen Screen Lip Balm throughout Winter which is when my skin typically dries out and my lips have been smooth and protected with this balm.

If this balm is over applied it will be sticky (obviously). Also the shade Shimmer should be sheer but it will wash out the colour from my lips.

For a sunscreen lip balm this formula is impressive. Ultra Violette take good care to use ingredients that are kind to skin so I feel confident buying from them. This Sheen Screen Lip Balm kept my lips hydrated and soft while protecting them from harmful UV rays.
