First of all, I must say that I don’t like these products with names like a novel; Roots of Strength Firming Shaping Day Cream is a mouthful!
Moving on from that, this cream is actually marketed as a day cream however compared to the previous day and night moisturisers I’ve used from The Body Shop it’s actually been the heaviest formula!
I think its heavy formula is due to Roots Of Strength line being aimed at mature skin who would like a richer cream compared to a lightweight gel.
Roots of Strength Firming Shaping Day Cream
The formula is rich and creamy in the jar and spreads out smoothly over my skin without feeling too heavy. It definitely feels thicker than a gel or light moisturiser, I can feel it on my skin for a few minutes before it sinks in.
Once it has settled into my skin, my face feels plump and firm. It’s not overly glowy, rather a healthy, hydrated look that I have been appreciating in combination with my naturally oily skin. This cream doesn’t make me look any shinier or greasier than I am.
I have also been loving this as my main moisturiser during the recent cooler months. My skin is naturally drier than it would be in a humid Summer environment and the extra weightiness of this Firming Shaping Day Cream has been exactly the boost my skin needed to keep it plump and soft.
One thing I will mention is that all products from The Body Shop are heavily fragranced. I am someone with skin that is sensitive to fragrance so I can’t use multiple products from The Body Shop at the same time as it causes my skin to react and sting. This cream hasn’t been the worst in terms of its fragrance however it is definitely scented.
This is a cream that I consider to be on the richer side of a moisturiser however it didn’t effect my skin in any negative way. I have reacted dramatically in the past if a cream has been too rich and this one from The Body Shop has been exactly what my skin has needed during these drier Winter months.
