I recently finished the sleeping cream version of this Oils of Life Gel Cream and I was really surprised at the difference between the two. This The Body Shop Oils Of Life Gel Cream was created as a lighter alternative to The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Cream which is also a day cream like this is. I imagine, because this line also contains a sleeping cream, The Body Shop put out this lighter gel cream so that people could use this light version with the sleeping cream instead of pairing the two heavy creams for morning and night.
I have used the sleeping cream before and have a full review here. While I did like that cream I remember being surprised by how light I thought that one was, considering it was a night cream. However having now using this specifically light gel, I can say that there is a huge difference in weights and formulas between them both.

The Formula
This gel cream is almost like a mouse or a jelly. It’s oddly bouncy in the jar and can be a little tricky to get out. I almost need to scoop some out on my fingers however it can then slide right off them if I’m not paying attention.
Once I apply it to my face the formula goes from that bouncy gel feeling to almost as thin as water. It spreads out hugely and a little will go a long way.
As it’s so light this doesn’t feel like the most moisturising cream, I’ve been layering it with anther cream during the day and that’s been good.
For my oily skin I tend to use light creams like this. It spreads easily and sinks in quickly without feeling heavy or looking greasy.
The Review
Overall this was a nice, light cream for my oily skin however it was a little tricky to get out of the jar and apply to my skin. Due to the jelly-like texture I struggled to only pick up the small amount I need to cover my entire face I could easily end up with a bit of a mess with this slippery cream.
