I think anyone who wears makeup would recognise the name of this concealer.
It’s been one of the biggest and most popular concealers in the makeup community for years.
Toting full coverage over 16 hours of wear in a crease proof formula that wont cake or settle. You can understand why this concealer is famous.
I had never tried it before now. Mostly due to its higher price point, I often chose cheaper alternatives and over the years I found other favourites and never needed to go out of my way to own this.
Recently I did find myself without a concealer and took that opportunity to pick up a travel size of this Tarte Shape Tape Concealer to try the formula for myself.
I chose the shade 12N Fair Neutral which has been a good match for my skin. When I first tried this concealer and compared it to some other formulas I could see that it was pigmented however it wasn’t as pigmented as others I’ve tried.
The formula is creamy and easy to apply however I have encountered issues when trying to blend it over my sunscreen.
I always wear a sunscreen everyday and so one of the most important things I need from my foundations and concealers is for them to wear well over my sunscreen base.
I can apply a primer over my sunscreen however even then I have found this concealer to be a little patchy and prone to catching on texture.
Once applied this will wear okay throughout the day. Comparable to any other decent concealer or foundation. It stays put with minimal transfer however it will fade over time.
Over a full day I will bring this travel sized concealer with me as I might want to reapply it over a bad breakout that will peak through the concealer after 6 or so hours.
Under my eyes I have slight wrinkles and will find that this can crease if I don’t apply a powder over the top. If I do apply powder over this concealer it will make the concealer last longer and mattify my skin however my makeup will also look slightly cakey by the end of a 10 hour day.
Overall I am glad I waited so long to try this concealer. I would say this is easily comparable to the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer which is much cheaper.
I wasn’t particularly impressed with anything about this concealer. I’ve used more pigmented and less textured concealers for a lot less money that what this Tarte Shape Tape costs.
