RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover Up Review

I purchased this RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover Up with the desire to own a foundation that made me look like a natural, dewy beauty. Which is basically how this product is described.

RMS Beauty says “Use as a foundation or a light concealer as it visibly melts into the skin while covering imperfections and redness. Provides even coverage for flawless looking skin that will never look heavy or dry. Moisturizes and heals, resulting in a beautiful second skin.” That description sounds exactly like my dream skin which is why when I saw this foundation for sale I added it to my cart without a second thought.

I will say from the beginning that this is a very small jar of foundation. For the amount of product I use to get a light coverage finish it has lasted me a long time, however if you’re someone who is looking for medium to full coverage I think you’ll go through this quickly. That being said, the small size is fantastic for travel or bringing it with you during the day.

The Formula

I’ve been using this foundation/concealer for many months now with various primers and powders so I have good knowledge of how it wears on my oily skin. To apply this I will start with either my fingers or with a brush, I don’t use Beauty Blenders so I can’t speak for how they work with this product.

With a brush this blends out nicely however using my fingers gets me more coverage. As this is an oil based product it works best over oil based primers, or alternatively I won’t prime and I will apply this on my skin after I’ve used a light facial oil.

When I try and apply this over tacky or water based primers it will separate and apply patchily from the beginning and I’ve yet to find a way to then fix that so I spend the day with a bad looking base. So I only use it over other oil base products or smoothing primers.

During Summer I have to set at least my T-zone as this has a dewy finish and will look nice for a couple of hours before my oily skin comes through and then I’m just greasy. Unfortunately, this product also plays up with certain powders as well and I’m yet to figure out that trick so I can’t give you the best powder to use because I’m still trying to figure that out myself.

The Review

All of these issues are a real shame because this has the nicest, most natural coverage I’ve found in any foundation or concealer. I think if you are someone with normal to dry skin this would be a beautiful, natural finish for you.

If you’re like me and have oily skin then you can absolutely still wear this, but just be aware that I have to bake my T-zone before I’m confident I won’t look too oily by the end of the day and even then, this wouldn’t be my first pick for foundation during Summer because I wouldn’t trust it against the combination of oil and sweat.

For me, the time when this product is best is during the cooler months of the year so if you live in a cooler, drier climate than me I think this would work perfectly for people wanting a natural, dewy finish to their foundation.

When I wear this foundation in Winter I don’t set my face at all and while I can end a full day looking a little shiny it’s nothing too serious. I also like the glossy skin effect so I bring this out in the cooler months.

As for the shade range, from what I can see it seems fairly well spread, they market this as something that molds to your skin tone so it’s not a huge range but they have a shade light enough for me which is not super common. It also doesn’t oxidise on me so the shade you see is the shade you get.

Overall I have really enjoyed this RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover Up. It is a naturally glowy foundation so if that’s not something you’re into then you wont like this. However if you’re looking for that natural finish, dewy skin foundation then this is worth a try. Plus the shade 000 is the best I’ve found for being very light with a neutral undertone.
