November Empties

I was very determined this month to finish a lot of my Project Pan products and I’m happy to say that I did exactly that! I also went through a few skincare products that I’d been wanting to use up so overall November was a very good month for my empties.

Skincare & bodycare

Rovectin Cica Care Balm

I bought this online from a mostly Korean language store so I misunderstood the definition and thought this was to heal dry skin. Instead what I later learnt is that it was meant for combination, break out skin and so it possibly suited me even more! I applied this morning and night over my entire face in an attempt to even out my complexion overall however after months of use I noticed no real improvement in my skin from this. My breakouts still happened and my red skin still flared up. The formula of this was also not what I was expecting, it was thick like a paste and felt like a moisturiser when applied. In general it felt nice on my skin however in terms of clearing up my skin, I can’t say I saw any results.

Would I buy again? No.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum mini

This is not the first time I have used this Vitamin C serum however it will be the last, at least for a while. Since starting my no-buy year and monthly budgeting I have realised that this is just too expensive for me to continue using. Along with the price, I have also noticed that after opening a fresh bottle of this serum the formula appears to lose its potency over time, as the feel and colour of the formula will have changed drastically by the end of the product. It makes me think that by the end of the bottle the serum is no longer giving me the full treatment and for AUD$122.00 (for a full size) that doesn’t impress me.

Would I buy again? No.

Vaseline Intensive Care™ Advanced Strength Lotion

I spent three weeks away this month and needed to buy a body lotion that was cheap and not too big that I’d wouldn’t be left with a lot after I came back. I’ve been using the Cocoa Glow formula of Vaseline for years now and still love it so I thought I’d take this chance to try another formula of the same line. This moisturiser, as its name suggests, is a more intense version of lotion and while it did really hydrate my skin it was a touch too intense. By that I mean it took a little longer to sink into my skin than my usual moisturiser, though it would eventually sink in, but it was more than what I needed so the extra hydration ended up being unnecessary.

Clearasil Ultra 5 in 1 Exfoliating Scrub

I’ve gone through a lot of different acne facial scrubs in my time and this is the latest of that group. I tried Clearasil a long time ago and didn’t think too highly of it so I wanted to give it another shot a few years on and my opinion has not changed. I don’t like how unnatural this scrub seems, the smell and the appearance seem very chemically, which is what I remembered from the last time, and that alone is off putting. I also didn’t notice any improvement in the clarity of my skin or reduction of my breakouts so I won’t be trying this brand again.

Redwin Antiperspirant Deodorant

I’ve been using this deodorant for a while now, it’s not the first one I’ve finished. To sum up it’s formula, the scent is light and generic and it’s deodorising effects will last a whole day during cooler months, however in the warmer months of summer it’s not quite up to the job. I wouldn’t trust this to last a hot day and still be working well at the end of it. I still have one full bottle left from when I bought a couple last year and after that is finished I’ll be looking for alternatives.

Oxx Gloss x 2

Yay another two of these glosses finished. I started this year with a 10 pack of them and am ending November with three left. As I’ve mentioned in many previous empties posts I do really like the formula of these glosses. It sits perfectly between thick and thin. It’s not sticky however neither is it slippy like an oil, the only thing I would fault is the low pigmentation of the different colours however it’s not a huge issue for me.

Would I buy again? Yes, but not in a 10 pack.

SACE LADY Cosmic Lip Gloss – #04

This is one of the few products that I’ve bought from AliExpress and I don’t think I’ll be doing that again. The colour of this gloss is the main reason why I bought it and it ended up being my favourite thing with the product. Alternatively the formula of this gloss is what let it down, it applied nicely and wore awfully. Within half an hour this would be clumping up so badly on my lips that they looked almost infected. It was horrible and meant that I never wore this out anywhere so the unique colour shifting formula went unappreciated as I was the only one who saw this sitting around in my house.

Shiseido Ibuki Smart Filtering Smoother

This was recommended to me when I was looking for a mattifying primer and even though the name mentions nothing about it being matte the sample I tried on my skin was undeniable. I was so excited to try it however what I learnt after using this is that the formula is a double edged sword. While it is incredibly mattifying it is also a very poor makeup base. Foundation doesn’t blend out on it at all, every cream product will look patchy. If I tried to apply over my makeup instead then it would often lift the makeup underneath so while it was the most mattifying product I’ve ever used I could only use it on bare skin which was not what I wanted from it.

Would I buy again? No, also it’s been discontinued.

SACE LADY Liquid Glow Highlighter – 02 rose gold

This is the other product that I bought from Aliexpress. I know in the image it might look like there’s still product left however that’s as far as it will pump so it’s a little wasteful in the end. The swatches of this online looked incredible and amazingly they looked just as good in real life. This is a blinding highlighter however it is also made up of tiny glitters in a liquid base which is not the effect I like my highlighters to have. Other than that the formula wears really well throughout the day, it doesn’t lose it’s reflect and blends out nicely over other cream products. As it’s a liquid highlighter I only applied it over cream products as liquid over powder would never work.

Would I buy again? No, not my style

Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow – Ballet Baby

Another product I’ve owned for years and finally finished. This was the only shade that appealed to me from the Magnificent Metals line however, as I’ve since learned, it was also one of the poorest of formulas. The glitter of this was lovely however it had basically no colour in the glitter base which limited it to being only a topper. The glitters once applied wore perfectly, very rarely would I get any fallout and as long as I primed my lids this wouldn’t crease or fade away.

Would I buy again? Maybe, but not in this shade

Overall November was a progressive month for my Project Pan which makes me happy! I was also able to finish off some skincare products that I’d been looking to replace for a while now so I’m excited to be moving onto their replacement products now.

As for next month, I’ll be winding up my current Project Pan which and so that will be a good recap to see how far I’ve come. Hopefully in my next empties update there will be the last of my Project Pan products!
