NARS High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner

NARS High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner

NARS is the brand behind many cult beauty products. When I received this High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner as a gift I was surprised to find I hadn’t heard much about it. The eyeliner that I received wasn’t the full size, more like half sized so there was still plenty of product.

NARS claim this eyeliner offers extreme wear with a dramatic finish. One swipe payoff of saturated shades in multiple finishes. The liner can be used on eyelids and the waterline, lasting all day for a bold, statement eye.

I have the shade Via Veneto which is a black shade however there is an even darker black called Gran Via. I don’t know how it could be much darker as my Via Veneto shade was incredibly pigmented. Beside the two black shades there are 14 other colours ranging through the rainbow.

How To

This smooth glide formula can define the lash line or create intensity in the waterline. NARS say to glide the liner onto your eye wherever you want to build the definition. You can also softly smudge the liner with your fingertips or a brush for a diffused eyeliner look.

One thing to note is that this is not a wind up pencil. It will need to be sharpened manually when it gets blunt.

My Experience

This is hands down the most pigmented eyeliner I’ve ever worked with. One swipe and it’s the blackest black in my liner collection. It’s super smooth to apply. It glides onto my eyelid or waterline with absolutely no effort. At first I thought that was amazing however I quickly discovered the down side to its smooth formula. This liner is so soft that the pointed tip will blunt within seconds of use. I can never get any sort of precision with the pencil as the soft formula flattens the sharpened point immediately.

So what I soon learnt was that I usually make a mess applying this liner because of the super soft formula. The liner is so easy to apply that it sticks to everything it touches. If I’m trying to line my waterline the liner is brushing against my lashes and coating them in this liner too. If it gets in my lashes then it gets onto my eyelid as the formula also stays creamy for a very long time. In fact that brings me to the next issue. I don’t think this liner ever dried down.

NARS say this Longwear Eyeliner has a matte finish that lasts all day but I found that the formula never completely dried. It was very easily smudged in the beginning and would continue to transfer throughout the day. I have naturally oily and hooded eyelids so I could never use this as a winged liner. It would smudge and transfer and look like a mess. I also had difficulty using this in my waterline as it would transfer throughout the day and I could end with it smudging beneath my eyes.

This NARS High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner is the most pigmented formula I’ve ever used. It is also the messiest. The liner never dried down so it would transfer and smudge all of that black pigment everywhere I didn’t want it to be. If you want a messy, grunge look then this would be great. If not, then I wouldn’t choose this eyeliner.
