L’Oreal Paris found the gap in the market and produced this Pure-Clay Mask in a variety of colours, each being targeted to a different area of skin concerns. The green mask that I own is called Purify & Mattify and is aimed at shiny and oily skin. L’Oreal claims this mask absorbs impurities, unclogs & clears pores with powerful clays & eucalyptus.
I bought this mask because I wanted something stronger than my black head peels to cleanse my skin and pores. I’d never tried any clay masks like this so the L’Oreal Pure-Clay Masks seemed like the perfect way to enter this new realm of skincare.
The formula of this mask is very thick as its base is a combination of clays that apply as a thick paste and dry down to set in place over a period of 15 – 20 minutes.

I didn’t notice any scent to this mask nor did I have any reaction in the form of irritation after applying this mask. Once on my face I left the mask to set for about 10 minutes and then gently pat my skin with a damp cloth to soften the set mask then wiped/patted off the mask with my cloth.
The only issue I had was that once this mask set down I had to dampen it again to soften it otherwise it would have remained stuck to my face. This really sets down!
Once I had removed the mask I immediately saw that my pores were smaller and my skin looked brighter and clearer. My breakouts hadn’t miraculously disappeared but my skin tone had evened out and in general my skin looked like it had firmed up.
In the following days I did see my breakouts lose their swelling and redness faster than usual however that bright look to my skin only lasted the day of my mask.
Overall I enjoyed the experience of using this L’Oreal Paris Purify & Mattify Pure-Clay Mask. I could immediately see that it reduced the size of my pores and a brightened my complexion and in the days following I also saw a reduction in the redness and size of my breakouts so I was happy with the results. I now use this around once a week and still enjoy its effects on my skin.
