L’Oreal Infallible Eye Paint Review

I’d not heard of these L’Oreal Infallible Eye Paints until I found this one online. The idea of cream eyeshadows has always drawn me in however due to my oily, hooded eyelids it’s always been an unattainable dream.

When I read about the all day lasting power and one swipe pigmentation I knew I wanted to try one for myself. The colour I chose was 303 Breathtaking Brown. If the pigmentation really did last all day then this solid, smoky brown was going to become an everyday staple.

The Formula

The Eye Paint comes in a small tube with a firm and precise doe foot applicator. When I swatched the shade onto the back of my hand I did see the strong pigmentation from the one swipe however I was also pleasantly surprised by the sparkle of an occasional gold fleck.

Hidden amongst the brown are tiny, golden glitter flecks that are unnoticeable until they’re under direct light. I really love that extra element which makes this a great eyeshadow for multiple occasions.

The Review

As I mentioned above I have oily, hooded eyelids so my eyeshadow needs to be pigmented without transferring. I applied this L’Oreal Eye Paint over a primed eyelid and while it was pigmented I did quickly learn that you need to be fast if you want to blend out the edges.

The fast drying formula means that I would dot or swipe on some product and then very quickly try and blend the edges with a brush. I did attempt to use my fingers once however that was not effective at all. In saying that, it’s also quite difficult to do with a brush.

I will have to put in a lot of effort and move quickly to blend out the edges of this and even then it’s often not a smooth blend. The effect I often end up with is a grungy, smoky eye. This is a little limiting however I quite like that look anyway so I have been making it work.

Once it is on my eyelids this wears fantastically. It will last all day without creasing and with very minimal fading. It maintains it’s punch of pigmentation well without transferring on my lids.

When I think back to other cream eyeshadows I’ve used over the years this is one of the more pigmented that I’ve tried however it’s also been one of the harder to blend out.

The Colourpop Jelly Much Shadows are the most comparable in terms of pigmentation however they blended out easier.

Overall I do like this L’Oreal Infallible Eye Paint in the shade 303 Breathtaking Brown. It’s got great pigmentation and staying power and while it can be tricky to blend I don’t mind the grungy effect it can give so it’s perfect for me to grab for an overnight trip when I need something that will last all day and look flattering at the same time.
