This is supposed to be a moisturising serum that gives your skin a radiant, healthy glow, and preps for flawless makeup.
Unfortunately these moisturiser and primer in one products don’t fit well into my routine as the last step in my skincare routine is always sunscreen.
If I apply this before my sunscreen then it’s a lightweight gel formula that leaves my skin glowing but I lose its priming properties as my makeup ends up being applied over my sunscreen.
If I apply this serum after my sunscreen then it’s light, gel formula will lift up the sunscreen as I apply it and my face will be left with patches uncovered by sunscreen and that defies the whole point of the SPF.
Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum
The formula itself is exactly like any other moisturising serums that I’ve used before. Lightweight, thin and hydrating. It leaves my skin soft and glowy from hydration.
So, for the purpose of this review, if I take my sunscreen out of the equation then this Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum feels like nothing more or less than a moisturising serum. I noticed no priming effect other than my skin looking glowy; I saw no reduction in texture or smoothing of my skin. I also saw no benefit to my makeup application or longevity.
It seemed to me like I could just apply any hydrating serum and get the same results from my skincare and makeup. However, all of that is pointless because, as I mentioned above, I can’t use these moisturiser and primer in one products as I apply sunscreen between my last skincare step and first makeup product.
Overall this seemed to be an expensive hydrating serum that didn’t show me any real improvement to my makeup application or longevity.
