For a while I went through a cleanser phase where I was trying all of the non-foaming formulas that I could find. This Lagom Cellup Gel To Water Cleanser was a popular option on many of my Korean beauty sites and I thought I’d give it a try.
The benefits of a gel cleanser instead of a foaming cleanser are supposed to be that it’s a lightweight option for a morning cleanser that won’t strip your skin dry. The formula, which turns from a gel to a water-based substance as you massage it into your skin, should leave you with hydrated, soothed and properly cleansed skin.
Going from many years using foaming cleansers it is a bit odd to be massaging a clear gel into your skin. I’ll admit that it just doesn’t feel as cleansing but I think that’s due to the lack of foaming than any unclean feeling afterwards.
I only used this cleanser during the mornings as was recommended so I can’t speak for how this works against removing any makeup products however for a morning cleanser it was a nice, gentle option.
I worked my way throughout this huge bottle without any irritation or breakouts like I had experienced with previous cleansers. However in the end I just couldn’t wrap my head around the lack of foaming. While my face did feel fresh after using this cleanser it didn’t feel as clean as it does with foaming cleansers.
I know and have heard that your skin is not supposed to feel squeaky clean after cleansing which I am sure to avoid however I still think I prefer a foaming cleanser for my oily, acne prone skin.
Maybe if you have sensitive or dry skin then a gentle cleanser like this would be more appealing to you however for my oily skin I like something a little stronger.
