I didn’t buy this mascara for myself, it was actually intended for my mother who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and just wanted a black mascara that wouldn’t smudge and was easy to remove.
When we went into a local Australian beauty retailer an assistant there led us over to the display of this Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara and proclaimed that this was the one.
Unfortunately we never found out if this is an amazing mascara because it was completely dried out from the moment we opened the tube.
And when I say dried out I don’t mean that the formula was a little clumpy, I mean that there was nothing on the wand. I could scrape it around the insides of the tube and then scrub the wand onto my hand and only a few dry crumbles of black would break off.
We tried to take it back to the store however Australia has very terrible return policies and so we weren’t able to do anything about this.
I wouldn’t have even bothered posting this review however I previously had bought the Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara and had also found it to be already dry from the beginning. Not so bad like this but it was already clumpy when I opened it.
I don’t know what this could mean however it has made me turn away from Kevyn Aucoin mascaras for the future. They’re too expensive for me to keep buying them on the hope that they wont be too dry and possibly unusable.
